LABUAN – A 21-year-old man was killed on the spot in a road accident occurred at KM 3.5, Jalan Tun Mustapa next to Taman Amananda on 6am this morning.
Labuan Police Chief, Superintendent Adzhar Othman told that, the victim who was identified as Mazlan Ajid suffered serious head injury after their Toyota Avanza skidded to right side of the road and ended up by ramming into the tree trunk on the road divider.
Another two passengers in the vehicle were the 21-year-old Mohd Eqhra Jaini who suffered minor injury in his face and the 19-year-old Shahri Moreen who broke his right leg in the accident, where the former was seated at the front passenger seat, while the latter on the back seat.
It was learnt that the deceased had lost control while heading to the town area from Pohon Batu which caused the collision where the front and right side of the car were badly damaged.
“The deceased’s body was ejected and rushed to Labuan Hospital with the other two victims. The post-mortem will be done on tomorrow (Sunday) at 9am,” said Adzhar, adding that the case was investigated under Section 41(1) Road Transport Act 1987.
He said further that the deceased who was unemployed was not suspected driving under alcohol influence, while advising to other traffic users to be careful on road especially during in this rainy season.
Adzhar disclosed that there were 13 death cases involving road accident from January to July this year compared to 11 cases for the similar period at last year.
