Scouts take part in amateur radio course

LABUAN: A total of 45 scout members and seven scout leaders from SM Sains Labuan, SMK Labuan, Sekolah Menengah Agama MAIWP Labuan and SMK Mutiara Labuan had recently participated in Amateur Radio Course organized by The Scouts Association of Malaysia held at SM Sains Labuan.

The spokesperson for the programme, Chua Hup Bee told that the course was intended to expose to the participants in communicating through radio wave especially during emergency and disaster.

“This programme is organized in conjunction with the celebration of Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) at national level where all the scouts at nationwide open their respective radio station on a standard frequency to enable them to communicate at each other.

“Two call stations in Labuan are opened for this programme namely, 9W6SIM and 9W6RMD,” he said.

All the participants were then awarded with certificates and activity badges from the deputy chairman of BP Guild Labuan, Parno Wongso.
