Marine police confiscated 7,650 kilo of cooking oil in barter trade ship

LABUAN – A total of 450 boxes cooking oil with Perfect Pagasus brand had been confiscated by Labuan Marine Police on yesterday at 6.45pm.

The commander of Labuan Marine Police, ACP Mohamad Madun told to the media that they managed to block the barter trade ship laden with the cooking oil from leaving Labuan waters at Tanjung Taras area.

“Inside the 450 boxes, there are around 7,650 plastic bags or 7,650 kilo of cooking oil where the estimation value of the seized items is around RM20,700.

“Seven Filipinos on board are arrested, while the ship is confiscated,” he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Control of Supplies Act 1961 for trying to smuggle controlled items from this island to Philippines.

Mohamad told further that they would continue their operation from time to time to fight against the illegal activities, while urging the society to cooperate by sharing information to them.
