Forty scouts undergo merit badge test

LABUAN – Forty scout members and 20 scout leaders had recently participated in merit badge test camping held at Labuan International School (LIS).

Among the schools involved in the camping were LIS, SMK Labuan, SMK Taman Perumahan Bedaun and SMK Mutiara where the programme was organized by Labuan Scouts Association.

The spokesperson for the programme, Chua Hup Bee told that the participants those passed in the test would be awarded with usaha badge that was the junior rank in young scouts training scheme.

“In the three day camping, the scouts have undergone in skill tests including in knot-tying, marching, first-aid, survival, exploring, mapping and stage performance.

“In this programme, the scouts have the opportunity to exchange ideas among them and get to know each other, while polishing their personality,” he said.

Present to officiate the closing ceremony of the programme was the first vice-president of Labuan Scouts Association, Ismail Abdullah.

Also present was the state scout commissioner chief, Hong Heng Chee who awarded the badges and certificates to those passed in the test during the camping.
