Lions Club of Labuan Mandarin provide eye screening service to the community

LABUAN – Lions Club of Labuan Mandarin on yesterday served the community by organising an eye camp at Chi Hwa Kindergarten.

The president of the club, Jessica Lee told that it was a free screening service with complete eye screening in visual acuity test, degree test with Snellen chart, slit lamp examination, glaucoma test, cataract identification and reading glass chart test.

“Through this service project we help the community by identifying those having visual impairments.

“Today’s eye camp recorded 429 visitors where we have identified eight cataract patients.

“We give away some 104 reading glasses, 63 frames and 35 used eye glasses. Some are asked to proceed to Labuan Optics for eye glasses where our club will sponsor to those in need,” she said.

She further extended her thanks to Chi Hwa Kindergarten, Labuan Optics and Unit Oftalmologi Hospital Labuan for helping the club to make difference within the community.

Also joining in the programme were the committee members of SM St. Anne’s Leo Club led by its president, Joey Vei where the programme was held from 9am to 3pm.
