LABUAN – A walking trail around the Chimney area is one of the plans proposed by the secretary general of Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), Tan Sri Dr. Ong Hong Peng in his recent visit to here.
MOTAC Labuan Office director, Vinson Embaran on yesterday told that the proposed walking trail would stretch in 2 km from Chimney heading to the Gedung Ubat, the place where the Imperial Japanese Army stored their arms and ammunition during the World War II here in Tanjung Kubong.
He (Dr. Ong) spoke further about the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) potential in Labuan where Malaysian Convention and Exhibition (MyCEB) would help to facilitate the programmes for MICE here in this island.
Meanwhile, Vinson spoke that Dr. Ong also suggested the idea to repackage the shipwreck diving activity here in this island by doing partnership with the shipwreck diving activity at Kota Belud, Miri and Kuching.
“Tourism Malaysia will help to facilitate the shipwreck diving package to sell it to the tourists,” he said, adding that the secretary general did not specifically mentioning about the amount of budget for Labuan tourism development.
