LABUAN – A 27-year-old man was detained by the police on September 23 at 3.40pm in Labuan town area for possessing drug in his hands.
Labuan Police Chief, Superintenden Adzhar Othman told to the media on yesterday that the man who was living in Kampung Saguking here was holding a plastic in his hand when the police approached the man.
“When our personnel checked inside the plastic, they found another smaller translucent packet of plastic that we believed containing syabu weighing 75.13 gram.
“We did confiscate the drug and brought the suspect to the police station for further investigation,” he said, adding that the suspect had been remanded until this September 30.
It was learned that the suspect was sitting on a Yamaha LC135 bike and was waiting for his clients to buy the syabu when the police approached the suspect.
Adzhar told further that the suspect had three previous crime records.
“He was first charged under Section 379A Penal Code where he was jailed for 18 months and later charged under Section 414 Penal Code with six months’ imprisonment.
“While, the third crime the suspect committed was under Section 15 (1) (a) Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and was being jailed for seven months and finished his two years’ police supervision,” he said.
Meanwhile, Adzhar spoke that the latest crime the suspect committed was under Section 39B Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
If the suspect was found guilty, he would be hanged to death.
