Seven-year-old boy dead in a collision with a car at Jalan Rancha Rancha

LABUAN – A seven-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a Toyota Avanza car near the junction of SK31 at Jalan Rancha Rancha on 1.55 pm, yesterday.

Labuan Police Chief, Superintendant Adzhar Othman today told to the media that the deceased was identified as Al Bakri Amri.

“The driver of the car who was a female student aged 21 was in her way to return back to Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL) from the town.

“It is learned that the car was behind a lorry where the latter then giving a signal to turn left on the junction of SK31. Both, slowing down their vehicles.

“After the lorry turned into the junction, the car driver then continued her driving, but suddenly the boy from the left side ran into the main road while playing with a motorcycle tyre,” he said, adding that on that moment the car did collide with the boy.

Adzhar said further that due to the collision, the boy suffered serious injury and rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Labuan Hospital.

The boy was later pronounced dead at the hospital on 12.10am.

While, the car driver did not suffer any injury.

Adzhar told that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) Road Transport Act 1987.
