Labuan International School organised its first international swimming tournament

LABUAN – Some 318 swimmers representing 20 swimming clubs in Sabah, Sarawak, Peninsular, Brunei, Philippines and Labuan took part in the 1st Labuan International Swimming Championship organised by Labuan International School (LIS) at the school recently.

Malaysian University Sports Council (MASUM) Penang captured some 29 gold, 13 silver and eight bronze medals to become the overall champion team in the tournament.

In second place went to the team of Persatuan Renang Penampang Sabah
(PREPS) with 25 gold, 16 silver and 19 bronze medals.

While, in third was won by Kelab Renang Akuatik Sabah (PJMS) after securing 16 gold, 16 silver and 16 bronze medals.

The host for the tournament, LIS only managed to win two gold, nine silver and 13 bronze medals.

It was first time for LIS swimming team to participate in the international level tournament after the team was established in this year under the head swimming coach, Clement David.

“This result is very significant and meaningful for our young swimmers,” said the spokesperson for LIS team.
