LABUAN – LKIM Fisheries Complex at Kiamsam here is expected to become the centre of Labuan fish landing and also for tuna landing hub said the director of Malaysia Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) for Labuan, Dzulkifli Mad Ali.
“All the operators’ boats will be moving to LKIM Fisheries Complex. Kiamsam will be the main pulse for the fishery sector in Labuan.
“The business operation at Labuan Fisheries at the town will stop completely started today (April 1),” he said after the handing over of the cost of living allowances to some 348 fishermen here totaling RM104,400 today at Kiamsam.
He said further that other activities that were operating at the complex were fish, vegetables and fruits trade where the business hours were from 7am to 5pm daily.
Some 829 members were registered under Labuan Fishermen Association where the total payment for cost of living allowance during the programme today was RM1,203,600.
Based on the data issued by LKIM in Labuan this year, the quantity of fish landing in Labuan waters is 6,347.39 metrics ton, while its value was estimated at RM13,696,786.13.
