LABUAN – The Federal Territories Ministry had allocated around RM200,000 to pay the incentives to the registered tour agents in this country those bringing tourists to Labuan Island, which took effect on this July 1.
Labuan Member of Parliament, Datuk Rozman Isli on yesterday told that the incentives were meant to help the tourism industry players to attract more tourists coming to Labuan.
“Tourism is one of our main industries here in line with Labuan Development Plan 2030. Therefore, the government is taking proactive actions to help the industry,” he said before the breaking of fast at a hotel here with the tour operators.
To get the cash incentive of RM30 per tourist, the tour agents were required to bring at least ten tourists in a group to Labuan where they must stay at least a night either in star rated or budget hotel.
The tour agents were also required to hire registered tour guides in Labuan to certify the itineraries.
Rozman who was also the chairman of Labuan Corporation told that Labuan Development Foundation (Yayasan Pembangunan Labuan) would manage the process of applications and payments for the incentives.
