LABUAN – The deputy minister of women, family and community development, Datuk Azizah Mohd. Dun told that it was their hope for more women in Umno to be selected to stand as candidates in this coming general election.
Speaking to the media, she said that it was important for them to choose the women representatives within the party based on their personalities and qualifications to win in the election.
“We already come out with the name list those have potential to win and to be considered accordingly.
“Basically, we target to have 30 percent qualified women to be candidates in this coming election. But, if more, it is better,” she said during the Hari Raya Open House at Labuan Corporation Multi-Purpose Hall on yesterday.
She who was also a Beaufort Member of Parliament told that they did start to work since the day one after their victory in the last general election and not only during the general election.
“We did improve our work strategy for the people,” she said who was accompanied by her husband, Datuk Paiman Abdul Karim at the open house.
Also present were Labuan Umno vice chief, Khalid A. Ghani, Labuan Women Umno Chief, Datuk Hjh. Aini Safar, Labuan Umno Puteri Chief, Noor Erney Jamil and other women leaders from Labuan Barisan Nasional component parties.
