LABUAN – The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH Labuan) in collaboration with Labuan Financial Park and OTIS Elevator Company (M) Sdn Bhd had recently done their safety campaign in using the lift and escalator at Financial Park.
The director of DOSH Labuan, Jinurah Sintian in her speech told that the parents must monitor their children while they were using the escalator, while the premise management was encouraged to install the additional warning sign to remind all the escalator users.
“DOSH Labuan will do more campaign to advocate the safety usage of the escalators and elevators through media, events and others,” she said, adding that campaign was meant to create awareness to the public especially the parents and their children in using the escalators and elevators in a proper way.
The campaign that was held in conjunction with the Occupational Safety and Health Celebration 2017 in Labuan was participated by some 52 students together with their parents where the talk was delivered by the team from OTIS Elevator Company (M) Sdn Bhd.
The team did also demonstrate the right usage of the escalators and elevators.
Meanwhile, Jinurah said further that there was no accident report for the last five years in Labuan that involving escalators and elevators usage.
“Until this July, there are around 30 escalators and elevators here those are registered with DOSH Labuan,” she said, adding that the premise management must be responsible in checking their escalators and elevators for each three month, while renewing the machine certificates for each 15 months.
Under the available regulation, the premise management must do the agreement with the firms approved by DOSH in doing the machine maintenance.
Also present were the service manager of Financial Park (Labuan) Sdn Bhd, Lim Su Khong and the operation manager of OTIS Elevator Company (M) Sdn Bhd for Sabah and Sarawak, Lo Hon Jin.
