LABUAN – The appointed company to run Labuan Port, Labuan Liberty Port Management (LLPM) Sdn. Bhd today refuted the allegation made by the community leader in Labuan Times yesterday for hiring foreigners in the port.
In their respond to the article entitled ‘Labuan Port should hire more locals’, LLPM management told that such allegation was baseless and there was no proof that the management had employed the foreigners in the past and even today.
LLPM further demanded that Labuan Times should ask for apology for publishing such article and to remove that post, which Labuan Times obliged to do so.
However, when contacted, the community leader who issued such statement yesterday told that all you needed in this world were money and a good lawyer to sue somebody.
“If there is wrong in my statement then you must respond professionally through media and not with threat,” he said.
He said further that the new transport minister, Datuk Anthony Loke should review all the contracts being given to the Barisan Nasional (BN) staunch supporters in the relevant agencies during BN era here in Labuan.
