Labuan swimmers bagged eight gold

LABUAN – Victoria Swimming Club (VSC) had managed to capture eight gold, three silver and a bronze medals in 6th Brunei 100 Sprint Swimming Championship held in Halsanah Bolkiah Stadium, Brunei on January 27.

The youngest swimmer, Azriel Chin, a primary two pupil of SJKC Chi Wen bagged four gold in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. His teammate, the 18-years-old swimmer of SM St Anthony, Bryan Chin Bao Yang won three gold in butterfly, breaststroke and freestyle events.

While, another gold medal was captured by the primary five pupil of SJKC Chi Wen, Bowen Chin Bao Wen in butterfly event. He did also grabbed two silver medals in breaststroke and freestyle, and another bronze in backstroke.

Another swimmer, the 13-year-old student of SM St Anthony, Ernice Chin Ern Xin gained a silver medal in the tournament.

The spokesperson for VSC, Michelle Cassandra Hon told that all the four swimmers who represented Labuan had done VSC proud.

“I do hope that this tournament will inspire them to persist in their training for future tournaments,” she said.

VSC that is affiliated under Persatuan Akuatik Labuan (PAL) had secured in second place in the championship where Hammerhead Swimming Club won in the tournament by capturing 27 gold, eight silver and 19 bronze medals.

In third place went to Jerudong Swimming Club after gaining five gold, 14 silver and four bronze medals.

Another team took part in the championship were Dolphin Swimming Club, Brunei Speed Swimming Club, Panaga Stringrays, Skim Latihan Renang Tutong and Hornbill School.
