Former UMSKAL student shared his view on banking issue

LABUAN – Labuan Faculty of International Finance (FKAL) had recently conducted a talk on current issues in banking industry in Malaysia at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Labuan International Campus (UMSKAL).

The talk entitled “Current Issues in International Financial Economics” was attended by both lecturers and students from the faculty, and it was officiated by Dr. Mohd Fahmi Ghazali who served as the lecturer at the campus.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Mohd Fahmi told that the key objective of the talk was to uncover the prospects and challenges of the banking industry in Malaysia.

“It is aimed to shape the students’ managerial, communication and teamwork competencies in managing such a function,” he said.

Invited speaker to the talk was the former student of the faculty, Adnan Zaabah who currently attached with FWD Takaful Berhad as a Business Development Manager.

He shared his perspective in respect to the evolution of the banking industry in Malaysia that includes the revolution of banking technology or FinTech.

Adnan asserted that the banking technology had strengthen banking atmosphere and competitiveness in Malaysia.

According to the spokesperson, regardless of the structures of curriculum of final year students in the faculty, such talk should be included in their curriculum.

While, Dr. Mohd Fahmi spoke that the talk was meant to expose the HE22 International Financial Economics students of the banking industry sector in Malaysia with positive perception towards the industry.

Such talk was significant to develop the students’ potential in realizing their future career advancement in the industry, he added.

The talk which was one of the activities organised by FKAL Alumni Association in this year in collaboration with the faculty ended with a token of appreciation by Dr Mohd Fahmi to Adnan for the knowledge sharing where the former expressed his appreciation to all participating students and lecturers in the talk.
