KUALA LUMPUR – In a night of glitz and glam, the 2019 Global Business Leadership Awards recognised industry leaders across the globe where some 32 winners spanning from all over the region were crowned during the night.
The award programme was organised by Asia Pacific Business Council for Sustainability in conjunction with the 11th Asia Pacific Business Sustainability Forum with a theme: “Advocating Sustainability as the New Normal for Business Growth”.
It was also supported by the European Union Delegation to Malaysia, UN Global Compact Malaysia and Max Capital Management Holdings Ltd.
The objective of the awards was to promote leadership in sustainability as a holistic approach for business development on a global scale, while at the same time, enhancing the awareness for sustainable development within the business community and society.
It was also meant to recognise leaders who had excelled in corporate sustainability, giving them a competitive leadership advantage.
Additionally, the awards recognised winners who served to be benchmarks as exemplar of sustainable business practices to other organisations in accordance to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The awards programmes did also create a network of professionals and practitioners committed to furthering the sustainability agenda on a global scale.
SDGs worked in the spirit of partnership and pragmatism to make the right choices now to improve in a sustainable way for future generations.
They provide clear guidelines and targets for all countries and industries to adopt in accordance with their own priorities and to achieve the triple bottom line effect — People, Planet, Prosperity.
The event took place at the Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, Malaysia and was graced by His Royal Highness Tengku Hishamuddin Zaizi, Royal Family Member of Selangor and Kelantan States of Malaysia.
In attendance for the event as VIP Guest was the Head of Trade and Economic Relations from the European Union Delegation to Malaysia, Nicolas Dross, and president of the Asia Pacific Business Council for Sustainability, Roger Wong and acting president of UN Global Compact Network Malaysia, Chris Daniel Wong. -Bernama
