KOTA KINABALU – The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale had arrived in Sabah for the first time due to the popular demand of the Sabahans.
The much-anticipated book sale’s mission in spreading the joy of reading to more Malaysians will be in town from May 30th to June 9th, this year at Sabah Trade Centre, Kota Kinabalu.
Running for 11 days straight, the sale will be operating from 10 am until midnight (12 am) and entrance to the sale is free.
“In line with our 10th Year Anniversary Celebration, we at Big Bad Wolf Books are aiming to visit at least 10 states in Malaysia to ensure that affordable books reach more Malaysians.
“We are happy to visit Sabah for the first time and we are happy to know that there are many customers who are continuously supporting us and who agree with our mission in creating a platform to inspire people to achieve their dreams and empower them with knowledge,” said Andrew Yap, the founder of the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, adding that they offered brand new books at discounts as high as 75 to 95 percent with the primary aim of encouraging people of all ages to discover the joy of reading.
The book sales featured a wide range of books across all genres, including fiction and non-fiction bestsellers, young adult fiction, as well as an extensive collection of children’s books.
The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale would bring an interesting book called the Magic Book featuring Augmented Reality (AR) technology.
Known as Asia’s biggest and exclusive seller of the AR books, these AR books featured 13 titles of children’s stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Cinderella and many more.
“Children will be able to read, play and learn with these AR books, as they are using cutting-edge AR technology to revolutionise reading for young ones.
“We recognize that technology is something we cannot deny and children in this generation are well-adjusted to technology.
“The reason we bring the AR books for children is they are combination of reading and it’s “come-to-life” feature, which give children magical experience, as they see their favourite characters talking and engaging with them,” said Yap.
There is a book for everyone at the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale and shoppers could find educational books from prominent publishers such as Grupbuku Karangkraf, PTS, Kualiti Books, Pernerbitan Pelangi and Sasbadi that will be on offer.
There would be some selections of contemporary Malaysian novels in the book sales such as Buku Fixi, The Patriots, Iman Publication and many more.
During the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, customers could also purchase badges, magnets, and other Big Bad Wolf Books’ merchandise where it aimed to give back to the community and make reading accessible to all.
Yap said further that the Big Bad Wolf Books’ CSR arm, Red Readerhood was working with Yobel Activity House Sonway (YAHS).
Yobel Activity House Sonway was an organisation that was committed in providing a range of resources, programs, and sessions to help the children in need around Keningau for guidance and motivation to construct knowledge and character to help them achieve a better future.
Big Bad Wolf Books pledged to reach some 200 books to make YAHS’ mobile library project a reality and the public could also play a part in changing the lives of children in need in Kampung Tiga, Keningau by donating books purchased at the Red Readerhood corner.
The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale targeted to tour in 10 states in this country in conjunction with its 10th year anniversary.
Previously, they had visited Pahang, Johor and Sarawak, and would be visiting to Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Terengganu, and others in the coming months.
